License Server Outage - Saturday, 20th December 2014

On Saturday, 20th December 2014, there will be a 20 minute license server and Advanced Reservation Service (ARS) outage due to DREN upgrades. The outage will occur sometime between 0900-1600 EST.

Software licenses: Production jobs running at all DSRCs that require licenses during the outage may fail during the outage period.

ARS: All scheduled advance reservations will continue as requested. During the outage, no new advanced reservations may be made.

We regret any inconvenience this required outage may cause. All emergency, current, and upcoming outages can be viewed on the front page of centers.hpc.mil.

Holiday Notice - Thursday, December 25th, 2014

On Thursday, December 25th, 2014 MHPCC will be operating on a holiday schedule. The center will be open and all technology services will be available, however MHPCC will be operating at reduced staffing levels.

If you require assistance, onsite staff will be available to respond to Severity 1 Help Desk calls at 808-879-5077, and if necessary, MHPCC will contact other technical staff if needed. If you anticipate requiring any special assistance on December 25th, please contact our User Services department or the CCAC by email or by telephone.

Kerberos Password Policy For MHPCC

MHPCC Kerberos passwords must be changed every 90 days. After 90 days passwords will automatically expire.

Passwords should not be any of the following:

Passwords must be eight characters long, minimum.

Passwords must contain THREE of the following:

Passwords must not repeat (none of the last five passwords may be re-used).

One possible method for picking a good password is to make up your own acronym. For example, good Passwords are not that hard to choose would be gPanth2c.

Another possibility is to use two words separated by punctuation. For example, hill*grass.
