Account Request Form General Information

A. INTRODUCTION

Thank you for your interest in the Maui High Performance Computing Center. Please answer every question on the form and provide accurate and complete information regarding your project and requirements. Detailed information is requested in order to help us manage MHPCC to meet your needs. For example, it is sometimes necessary to reconfigure the IBM SP systems, upgrade memory or disk, purchase additional software, add new mass storage devices, or reconfigure the LoadLeveler and the Maui Scheduler to improve performance. This information, as well as information gathered in user surveys (which you will be asked to participate in), will assist MHPCC in planning for new or enhanced equipment and will be used to determine an ideal/optimal configuration to meet the needs of users.

B. ELIGIBILITY

MHPCC provides services to three main categories of users: (1) Department of Defense Modernization Program participants, (2) other Department of Defense and Government customers, and (3) Academic Projects and Education Programs. Please review the eligibility criteria before requesting an account. If you have any questions about your eligibility for an account at MHPCC, contact the Accounts Specialist.

Eligibility Criteria

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DoD): High performance computing conducted by the defense laboratories and RDT&E centers within the military departments and defense agencies under the cognizance of the Director of Defense Research and Engineering and the Director of Systems Engineering, and Evaluation, OUSD (A&T) are eligible. Service academies, schools, and institutions are also eligible to apply under the DoD account request form. Projects that have 6.1, 6.2, 6.3a, or 6.5 research, development, testing, and evaluation funding codes fall under the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program. These users should not use this account application form to request an account at MHPCC. If a DoD account request form is needed, contact the appropriate DoD agency approval authority or the Accounts Specialist at MHPCC.

OTHER DoD AND GOVERNMENT: To be eligible for an account, users will need to specify how their project requires the computing resources and services available at MHPCC and be able to clearly identify their funding sources. If a project is currently unfunded, it will be evaluated by MHPCC before an account is approved. Accounts of this nature will be asked to contribute technical results and/or case studies to MHPCC or professional publications. Request your account by completing the MHPCC Account Request Form.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: MHPCC is strongly committed to supporting academic research and educational programs. If an academic project is funded and can pay for computing resources and services, this project will be given the same priority as any other paying customer. If an academic project is unfunded, it will be evaluated by MHPCC before an account is approved. Principal Investigators on academic projects are strongly encouraged to publish results obtained using MHPCC resources in technical journals. In any case, an annual report to MHPCC is required. Request your account by completing the MHPCC Account Request Form.

MHPCC reserves the right to approve only those accounts that meet the goals of MHPCC.
