Shared License Servers Inaccessible January 26th, 2012

The Enterprise-wide Shared License Servers (rls1,2,3) will be inaccessible on Thursday January 26th, 2012 from 2000 to 2200 (8pm-10pm EST) due to DREN maintenance. Jobs starting or running during this time on any production system across the HPCMP enterprise which require communication to the Shared License Server will likely fail.

Upcoming Changes to Software License Reservations

NOTICE - UPCOMING CHANGES TO SOFTWARE LICENSE RESERVATIONS:
The new Shared License Buffer (SLB) will go into production on 1/30/2012. As of this date, SLB license reservations will be required to run all SLB-managed software Packages (Abaqus, Accelrys, ANSYS, Cobalt, MATLAB). Job submissions without SLB reservations will be denied software licenses. For additional information, please visit the CCAC User Portal at help.ccac.hpc.mil.

Shared License Server Outage - January 11, 2012

Connectivity to the Shared Application License Servers will be unavailable due to a scheduled Network outage, between the hours of 2000-2200 EST, Wednesday, 11 January 2012.
Running jobs using shared SW licenses may terminate due to the unavailability of the remote SW license servers. Users should plan accordingly. The Applications that use the remote SW license servers are Abaqus, Accelrys, Ansys, CFD++, Cobalt, Ensight, Fluent (acfd), LS-Dyna, Matlab, Star CD and Totalview. MHPCC FY12 DSP Changeover

The MHPCC Mana system will be undergoing the annual fiscal year changeover on October 1, 2011.
If you have a FY12 Mana account you will be able to access the Mana system on October 2, 2011 0800 (HST). If you have a FY11 Mana account you will be able to access the MHPCC Utility Server on October 2, 2011 0800 (HST). MHPCC FY12 Update

MHPCC will be moving to a new paradigm in FY12, your access to MHPCC may be limited.
MHPCC and the HPCMO have been working to attain solutions to assist in retrieving your data from the MHPCC system prior to the start of FY12.
All active users who presently run on Mana will have until 14 October 2011 to move their data (local data and archive data) without having to send a new visit request to the MHPCC DSRC. If you have access to Mana on 30 September 2011, you will be able to log into the MHPCC Utility Server on 1 October 2011 to retrieve data. If you need longer than two weeks to pull data (local data and archive data), you will be required to send a visit request to the MHPCC DSRC. If MHPCC does not receive a visit request for you by 14 October 2011, you will no longer have access to the MHPCC Utility Server; your account will be disabled at 2359 (HST) on 14 October 2011. If a visit request is received, you may continue to move data through 31 December 2011. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your data transfers, please contact help@ccac.hpc.mil. Submission to the PBS queues will be disabled at 11:59 pm (HST) on 30 September 2011. We understand that many of you need to transfer data to other resources so users will be allowed to access their MHPCC local/archive data on the system until 5:00 pm (HST) on 14 October 2011. Please ensure that you are able to utilize Mana prior to this date for continued access to our systems. MHPCC DSRC Utility Server Now Available for Production Use

We are pleased to announce that the MHPCC DSRC Utility Server (US) is now available for production use. The Utility Server is a component of the HPCMP Enhanced User Environment (HEUE) which is designed to provide computational scientists new tools and capabilities to perform research more efficiently and effectively. Other features of HEUE include the Center-wide File System (CWFS), Center-wide Job Management (CWJM) and Secure Remote Desktop (SRD).
Briefly, these new capabilities will allow the MHPCC DSRC systems user to: - Access a file system that is common to the Utility Server and Mana login nodes (named on all three machines by the environment variable $CENTER) and provide high-speed access to files from either machine; - Use robust pre- and post-processing software on the US that will provide high performing remote visualization of data and access to GPU-equipped interactive nodes; - Remotely and securely obtain a Linux desktop to run GUI versions of popular software including Matlab, EnSight, and ParaView; - Submit jobs to Mana from the Utility Server via the Center Wide Job Management Service (Please note that this service is still in work and will be forthcoming). There is also an important storage management component that will allow users to better document archived data and HPCMP to contain rising storage volumes and costs. These SLM features are scheduled for roll-out later this year.
